On Friday, 7th June, 2024 the Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie (MP) led staff and management to plant trees at the premises of the Ministry, with a call to plant a tree at their back yard to mark the Green Ghana Day.

The theme of the 2024 edition for the Green Ghana Day is “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow” with a target of ten million trees seedlings expected to be planted.

Dr. Awuah Kwoffie emphasised that the tree planting exercise should not be a one off event but a commitment to a sustained effort in fostering green spaces within our communities.

He called for the adoption of a ten acre land outside Accra especially areas affected by illegal mining activities known as “Galamsey Site” to afforest the land.

He indicated such initiative would be emulated by other Ministries which would help fight against land degradation and climate change.

The Green Ghana day was introduced in 2021 by H.E the President of the Republic,  Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to inspire Ghanaians to restore afforestation, greening and improve climate change issues in the country.
